Traffic movement on Bellary Road went out of gear on Thursday as BWSSB started shifting sanitary lines passing through Palace Guttahalli road to facilitate construction of the proposed underpass at BDA junction. The public had no prior information on the impending inconvenience.

New, unannounced traffic regulations triggered a big pile-up on Bellary road. Vehicles reaching the junction from Windsor Manor bridge were asked to turn towards Palace Cross Road, while those from Mekhri Circle had to take a U turn at the junction to help those reaching Palace Guttahalli.

Asked why the public had no advance information, a BWSSB official said the Board had intimated the traffic police. But the police said they were not told about the traffic diversions necessary to facilitate the shifting work.
