BJP Mahila Morcha has decided to stage protests in the district and taluk centres on February 10, opposing the decision of the Governor to depute Andhra Pradesh MLC Dr Rajalakshmi as a syndicate member of Bijapur Women’s University, informed Mahila Morcha State General Secretary Reena Prakash.
Speaking at a press meet here on Thursday, she charged that though there are enough eligible women in the State, the Governor has taken this step due to the influence of Congress politics. Except a few universities in the State, partiality is being done, she said and added that in Mysore, Kuvempu and Gulbarga university, syndicate members are either Congress leaders or their supporters. Neglecting litterateurs, intellectuals and educationists from the State is condemnable, she criticised.
If the appointment of Andhra MLC Dr Rajalakshmi is not immediately withdrawn and a candidate from the State is not selected for the post, the Morcha will stage protests at district and taluk centres, she warned.
She also demanded the Central government to ensure 33 per cent reservation while making appointments. District Morcha President Lokeshwari Gopal was present.
