'Reading newspapers widens horizons'

It is very important to maintain good health and discard all the superstitious notions and consult a doctor in case of any health related problems, said Taluk Okkaliga Association President B B Ramaswamy Gowda here.

He was speaking after presiding over the free eye check-up camp held at Jnanabharathi Educational Institution in the town.

The check-up camp was organised jointly by Prajavani Newspaper team, Spoorthi Charitable Trust. He asked the public to get the maximum benefit of the camp.

 Circulation department Manager of Prajavani newspaper Ganesh Prasad said that the Newspaper has been working towards the development of the society since 60 years from its inception and has been successful in reacting to the problems to the public and finding solutions regarding their problems.

Particularly the student columns which is being published in the paper regarding SSLC and PUC from expert educationists has been of immense help to students, Mr Ganesh Prasad  added.

Impartial
D Ed college principal S N Chandrahas said that the media has got very much responsibility in shaping the society and it is only because of the media that the democracy in our country is still alive, he stated. Prajavani, which has been impartial and transparent in dealing with issues. It has been working like a mirror of the  society, Mr Chandrahas added.

He called on the public also to develop the habit of reading newspapers for at least half an hour per day.
Increases knowledge.

He said that students should compulsorily develop the habit of reading newspapers as without studying newspapers their study will be incomplete. Reading increases our knowledge, expands our horizons, he stated.
Director of the Association G K Ananthaiah, Gurucharansingh, headmaster Govinde Gowda, Gangashanaiah, Somashekhar, head mistress Gangamma were present.
