Display of talent at UNMAAD
DHNS
Unmaad-08, Indian Institute of Management - Bangalore's annual cultural festival, saw a large turnout of enthusiastic participants with over 400 colleges participating from all over the country.

IIM Bangalore celebrated UNMAAD-'08, its annual cultural festival recently. With over 400 colleges participating from all over the country, UNMAAD broke its own records this year. The day started off with a line-up of literary events like dumb charades, crossword and wordgames which saw a large turnout of enthusiastic participants with MSRIT leaving people gaping with their clean sweep at dumb charades.

Best Indian Group in musicals saw some great performances by all the teams and was really appreciated by the judges, one of whom himself gave a wonderful performance in the end. The judges'  lineup was pretty impressive. On one hand, was Manoj George, a highly acclaimed violinist who is currently a part of the Vinapra band. On the other was Harish - whose band recently won the ‘Ooh La La La’ competition which was judged by A R Rahman. Christ college walked away with the top prize in this fiercely fought battle, closely followed by Loyola
college, Chennai. The event ended with Harish rendering a splendid performance.

Rangoli and fashion designing were two other events that saw participants flocking in good numbers. In the
performing arts category, there were seven colleges from all over India contesting for drama. Lady Shriram
College, Delhi won this showdown of emotions with IIM Bangalore, a close runner-up. Apart from theatre, solo dance was the other competition which saw a huge turnout. Latin dance fans had a great opportunity to pick up a few steps from professional Latin dance artists.

Another major attraction of the day was JAM which saw some very witty speakers, including Channel V veejay Gill, using their literary arms to win.  It was finally won  by a contestant from NIT Trichi.

The day (or say night) ended with a round of Karaoke, with a huge participation from the non-Banglorian junta, which gave all the bathroom as well as living room singers a great chance to exercise their vocal chords.

The concluding day at Unmaad-08 witnessed the entire campus immerse in the waves of the overflowing Tenth Emotion. The day started off with a mix of literary and fine arts events. Students from MIT Manipal and Alliance
Business School were crowned Mr and Ms Unmaad respectively in a fiercely fought battle for the top honours.

The choreography competition was a visual delight with the artists creating poetry on stage with their socially-relevant dance themes like Global warming and Circle of Life. In this rare show of art and creativity well-appreciated by judges, it was St John’s Medical College that ultimately bagged the top prize.
