“In terms of performance and results, this is the best I have bowled for Australia, but there still are areas to work on and improve in,” the left-arm swing and cut bowler said after bowling his team to a 128-run win over Sri Lanka on Friday night. “I need to work on the cutters and hit good areas on a consistent basis so that Ricky (Ponting) can set fields knowing that is where the ball will go.”
New South Welshman Bracken wasn't part of the Test squad, which meant he played a fair amount of domestic cricket this season at the SCG. “Having had the opportunity of playing at the SCG quite a bit helped a lot,” Bracken admitted. “We played on similar pitches, which helped me practice and get things right. It was the kind of pitch which suited me and I enjoyed bowling on it. There was swing up front, and once the swing went away, I was able to cut the ball and rely on change of pace.”
Ponting was all praise for what he called a 'very complete performance'. “I am pretty pleased with the way things went,” the skipper observed.
