Dear Sir,
I am 31 years old. I could not study after 10+2. For the past couple of years I have been thinking of doing an MBA programme through correspondence.
Is there any institution in India that offers an MBA programme with 10+2 qualification in distance mode?
Ravikumar V Jayavarapu
Dear Ravikumar,
It is very nice that you are planning to catch up with your studies. However, all recognised universities in India insist on a graduation for admission to MBA, both in contact as well as correspondence mode. Since you have been searching for 2 to 3 years, you could have, and even now you can, complete your degree through correspondence. Depending on the field you are already in, you can choose from a wide range of degrees, and then enroll for an MBA. Alternatively you can take up a Diploma in Management (DIM) offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for those who have completed 10+2 and have six years of work experience.
Dear Sir,
I have completed my 10+2 with maths and physics. Now I want to pursue my career in aviation. Kindly let me know the institutes in India, offering degree level courses in aviation.
I can only take distance learning and hence kindly give information about the universities offering distance learning courses in aviation.
Bharat
Dear Bharat,
No distance learning course in aviation will help you get a lucrative job. You may first decide within the aviation sector whether you would like to be in maintenance, traffic, hospitality, marketing, etc., and this choice should be based on your aptitude and capabilities. Depending on the field you have chosen, you can complete your graduation accordingly.
The aviation sector employs people from management, commerce, IT, engineering and various other streams. You may also try for an entry level job in the aviation industry, and then upgrade your qualifications, or apply to become an Airman in the Indian Air Force. Dear Sir,
I am studying in 2nd PUC. I am going to write my exam in 2008. I interested in doing Automobile Engineering. Is there good scope for Automobile Engineering?
Ankith
Dear Ankith,
Most engineering fields have good career opportunities, and many engineers move on to managerial jobs or non-technical specialisations, since the professional education of engineering gives a good foundation for further learning in any area.
The automobile industry in India is doing fairly well, and likely to do well in future too.
You may take up this branch of engineering if you are really passionate about the design, manufacture, quality and development of automobiles, but do not rush into it just because you love driving cars.
Dear Sir,
I am in Intermediate second year and my subject is commerce. Am I eligible to get admission in BSc computer science? I don’t know anything about science but computers are in my DNA.
Ali Imran
Dear Ali,
Having studied your +2 with commerce subjects, you are not entitled to study science at degree level, and it will not be advisable also since you will have a gap of two years compared to others.
However, since your love is in computers, you may consider BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), or even a B. Com with specialisation in computers.
You may supplement your studies with courses like SAP or Computerised Financial Accounting, and combine Commerce and Computers to make a good career.
Dear Sir,
I am an Arts graduate. I have done a diploma in naturopathy and am also an artist. I want to either appear for an MBA or Commercial Art but I am confused.
Will I be able to study MBA as I am not a commerce student? Does commercial art have ample scope? I am more interested in creative art.
Khushboo,
Nagpur
Dear Khushboo,
You do not have to be a commerce student to study MBA. People from all streams at degree level do get into MBA. However, being an Arts student, you will have to brush up your quantitative analysis skills if you wish to get into a good B-School through CAT or MAT.
If you have been able to decide your specialisation, then you go for a Post Graduate Diploma in that area of management.
For example, there are good post-graduate courses in design, retail management, product design, advertising, visual communication, etc by which you can combine your interest in Commercial Art and Management.
Dear Sir,
I have finished my PUC II year and am working in a call centre. Can I take up engineering through correspondence?
R S Kashyap
Dear Kashyap,
Engineering is offered by most universities either as a full time or evening college course, for students who have completed PUC with Math, Physics and Chemistry, and who go through the respective state's Common Entrance Test.
For studying through correspondence, you have the option of doing AMIE, which is equivalent to BE. Contact the nearest branch of Institution of Engineers (India) or get details from ieiksc@dataone.in. The Indira Gandhi National Open University also offers engineering in a few branches through correspondence mode.
