Continue fight on Bane land
DH News Service,Madikeri:
Rajya Sabha member Prema Kariappa on Wednesday called upon the Kodavas to stage a continued struggle with regard to the Bane land dispute.

Addressing the gathering at the 54th anniversary celebration of Shree Mangala Composite Pre University College she said that it is of little use if bundhs are staged in Kodagu alone and suggested that protests must be staged systematically in state capital too.
“Being satisfied with the publicity that one receives in the media while staging protest will not solve the problem. Instead Kodavas must be unified to stage a continued struggle till we achieve the goal,” she said.
She said that there is no point in blaming Revenue Principle Secretary Jamdar for not withdrawing the circular inspite of the former chief minister directing him to do so.
She added that the Government must be pressurised to withdraw the circular after submitting the land documents that the bane land holders had received decades ago.
Special Package:
She said that since the Central Government has not been providing any funds for the repair of the roads in Kodagu district, she has requested the Minister for Road Transport Mr K H Muniyappa to bring out a special package for road repairs in Kodagu district.
She said that there is disparity in the pensions released to the retired soldiers, captains and colonels and in this regard she will write to the defence minister to bring in uniform pension format to the said cadres of ex-servicemen.  She also informed that Union Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav and Railway Minister R Velu have agreed to provide railway connectivity between K R Nagar to Kuhalnagar.
Coffee Board member Dr Sannuvanda Kaveriappa clarified that there is absolutely no confusions pertaining to the compensation to the coffee growers who had lost their crops due to excess rainfall this year. He said that the premium amount of the insurance will be handed over to the growers soon.
