State Agriculture Rural Development Bank former president K Shadakshari has said that to protect the country from outside forces a concentrated effort from the youth was required.
He was speaking at the valedictory function of the ten day NSS special camp of the Tiptur Kalpataru First Grade Science college held near Alada Halli village and said in the name of modernisation the youth were forgetting agriculture activities.
There are several burning issues before them. On the one hand there is water problem and on the other drinking water issue. The only way to resolve this is bringing the Ganga, Cauvery waters together so that the water which is going waste can be diverted to drought hit areas.
Eshwarappa had presided. Camp officer G S Mahalingaiah read out a report on the activities undertaken by the students like planting saplings, creating Aids awareness and health issues, environmental protection and protection of historical monuments.
Science college principal P G Prakash and P A College principal P C Chandrashekra were the chief guests.
Co-camp officer K P Veeranna and H S Ramesh were present. The participants in the camp presented a cultural programme.
