Autorickshaw drivers affiliated to Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association (CITU) will go off the road here on Friday demanding an increase in autorickshaw fares. The demand follows a hike in auto LPG price.
The Association is demanding that the minimum fare be Rs 20 and Rs 10 be fixed per km.
Association general secretary H G Srinivasamurthy said the autorickshaws will not ply between 6 am and 6 pm. There are nearly a lakh autorickshaws in the City and 17,000 are affiliated to the Association.
However, the Auto Drivers’ Unions Federation will not support this strike, Federation president N Mayalagu told reporters here.
