Shifting of hospital: A daylight robbery?
Sir,
H D Kumaraswamy government had initiated a move to shift Rajiv Gandhi Health University from the General Hospital of 4th T Block, Jayanagar to Ramanagaram town. This is grossly unfair and is a political daylight robbery affecting the poor and common people in Jayanagar and surrounding areas. All the 14 residents welfare associations under the banner of their federal association have already launched an agitation to stop this unsocial and inhuman act.
HDK had already sanctioned projects for Ramanagaram costing thousands of crores of rupees. What right does a government have to take away health facilities being enjoyed by lakhs of poor and common people? We request the Governor Rameshwar Thakur to stop this. The people of this locality want in fact to upgrade RGHU facilities into a Speciality Hospital and Medical Research Lab.

Not again!
Sir,
Groupism in Karnataka BJP has raised its ugly head ahead of the crucial assembly elections and it is not going to do any good to the party in the run up to the elections.
The task before the party is cut out and it is to win the elections on a set of policies and programmes that appeal to the electorate and not internecine quarrels as to who should be the chief ministerial candidate if the party wins. The people this time deserve a better government.

Censor media
Sir,
The shooting down of a girl student in Vishwabharati university hostel in Shanthinikethan in Kolkata coming close on the heels of two such incidents in the recent days, is shocking and distressing. The civil society at large is perturbed over these incidents as also sociologists and the teaching fraternity.
College and school campuses are becoming centres of gunfights in recent days. It is high time the visual media and Bollywood come out of the web to stop nonsensical violence depicted on screen, which is driving the young generation to violence.

KRV protests
Sir,
I refer to the protests staged by the Kannada organisations on the recruitment to the posts in the South Western Railway. The agitation of the activists is justified, going by past experience. The Mahishi committee report is yet to be implemented.
If the government had acted earlier on this report much of this conflict could have been avoided. Recruitment should be dispassionate, transparent and opportunities should be provided to local candidates as is the practice in other states.

Conversions
Sir,
Hats off to Fr Adolf Washington for making such an important observation about conversions. Religion is a matter of personal choice. None of us should use devious tactics to convert people to a particular religion.
Malcolm Muggeridge began to appreciate Christianity and embrace it very late in life only after he was touched by the works of Mother Teresa. Whatever religion we practice, it is our life example that should attract people towards the religion we profess.
This is the real spirit of conversion. Forced conversions to any religion should be suppressed.
