EVENTS IN THE CITY

Charity concert

An evening of classical music, has been organised by Kutumba, group foster care for challenged children, on January 12 at St Mark's Cathedral.  The programme features Swiss musicians Daniel Bouldjoua on the pipe organ,  Liliane Jacques on the flute, bass soloist Pierre Miauton and Bangalore's Centre for Music Education, directed by Ken Henson with soloist Angela Ball.  

The concert is in aid of the construction of a school for underprivileged children. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be received.

Bengali play

After several critically acclaimed performances for the last two years Mukosh, the Bengali theatre group comes up with its first original production, a Bangla comedy “Jibon Muchki Haashe” at Seva Sadan, Malleshwaram on January 12 and 13 at 6 pm. The proceeds of the play will be donated to an NGO.

Tickets priced at Rs 80 would be available at the Venue on the days of the show from 5 pm onwards. For details call Anindita Bhadra: 9886307249.

Poetry reading

The Southern Regional office of Sahitya Akademi and Muse India, online literary journal is organising a poetry reading session by Shanta Acharya, Indian poet based in London on January 11 at 6:30 pm at the Senate Hall, Central College Campus, Dr B R Ambedkar Veedhi. Kannada play

After a gap of four months Sanket comes back with its popular comedy, “Nee naanaadre naa neenenaa” (Based on Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors). The play revolves around two pairs of twins, the master and the servant.

The play is written and directed by Surendra Nath with M S Sathyu designing the sets and V Manohar composing the music. The cast includes Srinivas Prabhu, Sihi Kahi Chandru, Jahangir, Srinath Vasishta, Kalpana Nagnath in the lead.

The shows are at Ranga Shankara  on January 12 at 7.30 in the evening and on January 13 at 3.30 in the noon and at 7.30 in the evening. For details, call: 9886924362

Music for cancer care

Karunashraya, a charitable trust helping patients with advanced cancer for the last 12 years, is hosting a jazz/fusion concert by Asia Elektrik on January 18 at the Ambedkar Bhavan, Millers Road, Bangalore to raise funds for their services. 

The evening will have performances by renowned musicians Louis Banks on keyboards, Sivamani on percussion and Niladri Kumar on the sitar. For details on Karunashraya and the concert, contact: 97408 10281 or 98808 46173.
