M S Thejkumar and G A Staney shared the top spot with 7.5 points, but the former was declared the winner on the basis of a better progressive score in the Mangalore Fide-rated chess tournament here on Wednesday.
In the ninth and final round, Thejkumar drew with P Gopalkrishna, who finished with seven points. Stany too could not force a win against M G Gahan and had to settle for half-a-point and the second spot.
