North Zone too good for Central
North Zone outclassed Central Zone in straight sets to power into the semifinals of the DGQA inter-zone volleyball tournament on Wednesday.
North scored a 25-8, 25-15 win. Earlier, Central defeated West Zone 25-5, 25-10 to make the semis.
City Club hold
B’lore Muslims
Bangalore Muslims were held to 1-1 draw by City Club in a ‘C’ Division football league match at the Austin Play Ground in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Muslims opened their account moments after the first-half via Hobint in the 49th minute. City Club drew parity through Vijay in the 68th minute.
State veterans table tennis
The third Osel State veterans table tennis championship will be held at the Malleswaram Association on January 12 and 13.
Events will be held in the men’s and women’s 40 plus, 50 plus and 60 plus singles and doubles. The state teams for the 15th National veterans meet will be picked based on points from the above State meet and previous tournaments.

Joshi pockets golf title
Khalin H Joshi won the Open event title in the Founder’s Trophy golf tournament at the KGA  over the weekend. Joshi shot a four-day aggregate of 295, while Arjun Lall (308) finished a distant second.

Swimming for non-medallists
Rotary, Bangalore Indiranagar, will conduct their annual state-level swimming competition for non-medallist sub-juniors on January 30 at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre. The competition is open to boys and girls in Group III, Group IV and Group V, who have not won a medal in any competition organised by the Swimming Federaion of India, Karnataka Swimming Association or School Games Federation of India.
Entries close on January 26 and may be submetted to the organising secretary, Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre, Pampa Mahakavi Road, Basavanagudi, Bangalore-4.
