Thousands of autorickshaws will stay out of City roads between 6 am and 6 pm on Friday.
The Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association has called for a one-day bundh demanding minimum fare should be at Rs 20 and Rs 10 per kilometre.
Association Vice-President M Jagannath Rao said when the auto fare was revised last in 2006, the fuel price was Rs 20 per litre. Over a period of three years, it has gone up to Rs 35. Bangalore Urban district Deputy Commissioner M A Sadiq had called for a meeting of the association’s representatives on January 3. He postponed it to January 10 and deferred it again to January 17.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Autorickshaw Drivers’ Unions has not supported the bundh call.
