This time the elections held for primary school teachers at Bagepalli on Thursday was a unique one! It characterised the following for the shock of many - Missing of names in the voter’s list, fake voting, voter’s in an intoxicated state, great delicacies, shamiyanas, chair system for the comfort of voters!
The residents of Bagepalli were awestruck at the kind of voting, which surpassed the gimmicks in public elections themselves!
Shamiyanas
For the election to be held for the taluk government employees association, two groups had arranged for shamiyanas at the Girls’ educational institute, in the morning before the elections had
started.
They soon caught up quarrel among each other and the matter was resolved after the police intervened to bring the situation under control.
Later, one of the groups, threatened saying that they would stage a dharna as more than 150 voters names were missing.
Convince
Election officer Narendra Hali later convinced the protesters saying that they could lodge a complaint with the police regarding missing names and that the election cannot be postponed, as they were demanding to do.
As many as ten fake votes have been cast in today’s election, it is said. Fake voting was found to be more among the lady teachers.
And the public is also irate over a voter who cast vote in an intoxicated state. As many as 11 candidates had contested for three seats.
