The members and office -bearers of Sri Valmiki Nayaka education welfare committee submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner to be forwarded to the Governor demanding to meet the various demands of them in Kolar on Thursday.
The protesters started the march at Nachiketa Nilaya and blocked roads for an hour. They also formed a human chain at Mekke Circle. Exchange of words took place between the police and the protesters as they were not allowed to enter the DC’s office due to prohibitory orders.
State Chief Secretary Malur Venkata Rao said that, the government has failed to meet their demands since many years and demanded that suitable action be taken to solve their problems.
They also complained that the Zilla Panchayat CEO has been supporting corruption by re-appointing Hosahalli gram panchayat Secretary Chowdappa, who was suspended for misusing reservation funds. However, the protesters took back their protest after the ZP CEO K S Sooryanarayana Rao assured of transferring Chowdappa.
