Music concert

Sri Vidya Mandir Education Society presents the Grand Music performance by Sanjay Subramanyan from 6 pm onwards on January 13 at Sri Venugopala Krishna Swamy Temple, 11th cross, Malleswaram.

Classical vocal

Mitra Mandal is organising Sankranti Special Hindustani vocal classical programme on January 13 with a concert by Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar. The programme will be held at 10 am at Sri Purandara Bhavan, 9th main, Indiranagar.

Sankranthi music

Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandir has organised a Sankranthi Music Festival at their concert hall on 9th main road in BSK II stage on January 11, 12 and 13 at 5.30 pm. The performers include Chitra Srikrishna, Amruta Venkatesh and Shartalai Sri Ranganathan Sharma. 

Carnatic vocal

MES Kalavedi presents a musical performance by Sriranjani Santhanagopalan, daughter and disciple of Neyveli R Santhanagopalan on January 19 from 6.30 pm onwards at New Conference Hall, ME S College, Vidyasagara Prof MPL Sastry Road, 15th cross, Malleswaram.

Annual music fest

Gnanabharathi Sangeeth Kala Sangha is organising its 4th music festival with performances by Pandit Ravindra Yavagal (tabla), Ravindra Sorgavi (Hindustani vocal) and Sneha Hampiholi (Hindustani vocal) at Nayana Sabhangana, Kannada Bhavan, J C Road on January 12 at 4 pm.

Vocal concert

Sri Mookambika Talavadya Sangeetha Kala Shale and Ananya GML Cultural Academy is organising a vocal concert by Amrutha Venkatesh on January 13 from 10 am to 12.30 pm at Ananya Sabhangana, No 91/2, 4th Main, Malleshwaram. The vocalist will be accompanied by Mysore R Dayakar (violin), V Krishna (mridanga) and R R Prathap (ghatam).

Festival of music

Vidwan R K Srikantan Trust is presenting the 13th Annual Sankranti Music Festival from January 16 to 19 at Seva Sadan Hall, 14th Cross, Malleshwaram, Bangalore along with 88th Birthday celebration of Vidwan R K Srikantan and centenary celebration of Late Vidwan R K Venkatarama Sastry.  A S Srikath, IAS will inaugurate the festival and release the CD album “Vintage Melodies” (Vol 7)

The following is the schedule of programme: Inauguration and release of CD (Jan 16, 5.30 pm); C R Amarnath - vocal (Jan 17, 5.15 to 7 pm); H S Sringeri Nagaraj - vocal (Jan 17, 7 pm to 9 pm); Sergudi sisters - vocal duet (Jan 18, 5.15 pm to 7 pm); B S Vijayaraghavan - vocal (Jan 18, 7 pm to 9 pm); Jayalakshmi Santhanam - vocal (Jan 19, 5.15 pm and 7 pm); Geetha Shyamprakash - veena (Jan 19, 7 pm to 9 pm).

Group show

Karma Gallery is presenting 12 contemporary artists from Bengal, an art exhibition curated by Akumal Ramachander, from Wednesday, January 9 to 15 at 384, 16th main, 2nd cross, 3rd block, Koramangala,  from 11 am to 8 pm.

Drama

Kannada play

Plays being performed at Ranga Shankara (36/2, 8th cross, JP Nagar, 2nd phase, next to post office) from January 11 to 17 include Aadaddalla Olithe? (January 11), Neenaanaadrenaaneenena? (Jan 12 and 13) Saafalya (Jan 15) and Bandwaalvillad Badaayi (January 16 and 17). All shows begin at 7.30 pm. However, there will be a matinee show on Sunday at 3.30 pm.

CGK tribute play

Ranganirantara is staging “Allamana Bayalata” as a tribute to Samsa Bayalu Ranga Mandira (behind Ravindra Kalakshetra) on January 11 at 6.30 pm and January 12 at 6.30 pm.dsmecj11Yashwanth

Humour all through

Guru Samsthe, Hubli is organising MTR Rangasambhrama with three Kannada comedy plays from January 12 to 14 at 6.30 pm at H N Kalakshetra, National College, Jayanagar. The following is the schedule of plays: Rashichakra (Jan 12), Olave jeevana Shakshatkara (Jan 13) and All the best (Jan 14).

Tribute dance

Natyataranga — The Institute of Indian Classical Dances presents Gurunamana as a part of the 88th birth anniversary of their guru Late S V Srinivas on Sunday, January 13, at ADA Ragamandira on J C Road from 4 pm onwards. Students of the Institute will be performing Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Folk and contemporary dances, vocal and instrumental music and yoga at the venue.

Kathak duet

Under the Every Friday Cultural Evening Programme, the ICCR jointly with Department of Kannada and Culture is presenting a Kathak duet by Pooja T and Prarthana T on January 11 at 6.30 pm at Yavanika, State Youth Centre, Nrupatunga Road.

Yakshagana

Yakshagana Yogakshema Abhiyana, Yakshangana Trust and Agni Seva Trust is staging Yakshagana plays, “Dharmangada Digvijaya” and “Rajarudrakopa” on January 12 at 3 pm at Town Hall, J C Road.

Carnival of sorts

Kara Pre School and Daycare Centres in collaboration with Crossword Bookstore is organising Kara Kahani Karnival at Crossword Bookstore, Residency Road on January 19 from 11 am to 1 pm.

National youth day

Swami Vivekananda Jayanti organising Committee (SVJOC) is organising Swami Vivekananda Jayanti (National Youth Day) on January 13 at 9.30 am at Sree Rama Mandir, East Park Road, Malleshwaram.

The programme comprises an interactive session, "Empowering India” in which Master Hirannaiah (theatre artiste), B K Shivaram (ACCP-CCB) and Geetha Ramanujam, Principal, National College, Jayanagar, will participate.
