Humpty Dumpty Pizza!
Radhika D. Shyam

Pizzas, unfairly considered as junk food can be changed into healthy food  by adding healthy toppings. And, with a little innovation, you can have some fun using them as a base for your art work. Here's how –

PIZZA: (1 medium size pizza)

Ingredients:
1 pizza base
1 big carrot
2 cubes cheese
1-2 capsicum
2 tablespoons tomato or hot and sweet sauce
1 teaspoon oregano (optional)
1 teaspoon oil

Method: Grate the carrot and cheese cubes and keep them separately. Cut the capsicum into thin and small strips. Apply the oil on lower side of pizza base. Spread the sauce all over the top of the pizza base and sprinkle the oregano. Divide the pizza into three parts by gently marking 2 horizontal lines with a fork across the pizza base. Spread the grated carrot on the top 1/3 portion of the pizza, the grated cheese in the middle and the capsicum on the lower part. Bake in the oven or cook covered on sim flame over a hot tawa for 3-4 minutes.

2. JACK ON THE BEANSTALK PIZZA: (1 pizza)

Ingredients:
1 pizza base
2 circular discs cut from onions
1 round slice of carrot
3 thick strips cut from tomato wedges
4-5 stems of spring onions
4-5 beans
2 tablespoons tomato or hot and sweet sauce
1 cheese slice
1 big capsicum cut into strips

Method: Cut beans into small slanting pieces (to form oblong shapes). Boil these in water for 5 minutes with a little salt. Apply oil on lower side of pizza base. Spread the sauce all over the top of the pizza base. Arrange the stalks of the spring onions vertically on lower half of the pizza base – ½ an inch apart. Arrange the boiled beans on either side of the onion stalks to make it look like leaves. Form a circle with the capsicum strips just above the part covered by stalks and beans.

This will be the outline of Jack's face. Place onion slices to form his eyes, the carrot slice to make his nose and the tomato wedge strips to form his smiling mouth. With strips of the cheese slice, form hair over his face. Bake or cook on tawa. You are luckier than the giant in the story because you get to gobble up this Jack, the beanstalk and the pizza.

3. HUMPTY DUMPTY PIZZA: (2 pizzas)

Ingredients: Pizza base …2 nos.
1 boiled egg
2 carrots cut into long strips
2 capsicums cut into ¼ inch strips
4 peppercorns
2 almonds
2 teaspoons oil
2 cheese cubes grated
6 tablespoons of tomato or hot and sweet sauce.

Method: Apply oil on lower side of both pizza bases. On lower half of the top of the pizza bases, arrange the carrot strips to form horizontal lines running across the pizza base – ¼ inch apart. Then arrange the small strips of capsicum vertically and alternately in between these lines to form a pattern resembling that of alternately aligned bricks. Pour the sauce to cover these 'bricks' to form the wall. Cut the egg into 2 halves – lengthwise.

Place each half on the 'walls' of the pizza bases – cut side down. Poke in the peppercorns in place to form eyes on the egg. Make a small slit with the pointed end of knife and insert the almond to form a nose. Pour some sauce out of a spoon to form a curve (smile under the almond. Spread grated cheese to cover upper half of the pizza around the egg. Bake or cook on tawa. What you have is a Humpty Dumpty Pizza that looks too good to eat.
