Kerala made a strong reply to Karnataka’s imposing total, but the home side were still control of the proceedings on the second day of the under-13 inter-zonal cricket tournament at the RSI grounds here on Thursday.
Resuming from their overnight 413 for two, Karnataka added further 94 runs to the total, losing two more wickets in the process. D Nischal, overnight 242, was dismissed for 251. Abhishek Reddy, who resumed from 40, went on to make 72 as the hosts racked up an imposing total.
However, Karnataka bowlers struggled on a placid pitch as Kerala batsmen scored at a fast clip to amass 293 for six at close. Sanju V Samson was the pick of their batting, making a 124-ball 132 that included 11 hits to the fence and one over it. Rahul Raghavan gave him good support with a steady 47.
For Karnataka, BS Karthikeyan grabbed four wickets to give his team a slight edge going into the final day.
Andhra on top
At IAF ground, Andhra took firm control over their match against Tamil Nadu. Having restricted Tamil Nadu for a modest 157 in the first innings, Andhra, resuming at overnight 109 for two, were all out for 294 in 91 overs to secure a handsome 137-run lead. Sai Dinesh top-scored with 108.
Andhra bowlers once again struck it rich when they left Tamil Nadu second innings tottering at 77 for four.
Tamil Nadu need to score another 60 runs to make Andhra bat again.
