BJP’s USP: Free power for IP sets
Bangalore, dhns: With impending Assembly election in the State, political parties have started doling out goodies to lure the electorate.
Close on the heels of the Congress announcing distribution of rice at Rs 2 a kg if voted to power, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Thursday promised free power supply to all irrigation pumpsets.
“We will announce the scheme within 24 hours of coming to power. The party will ensure free power supply upto 10 HP irrigation pump sets and it will benefit 16 lakh farmers,” Yeddyurappa announced at a press conference in Bangalore.
Referring to many popular schemes announced when he was DCM under JD (S)-BJP coalition Government, he alleged the Governor had shelved all the schemes under President’s rule. “All development work in the State has come to a standstill,” he alleged.
He further alleged that the Governor’s advisors were confined to the four walls of Vidhana Soudha. “How will they understand the problems of people sitting in Vidhana Soudha,” he asked.
Even three months after the elections to urban local bodies, the councils have not been formed and the elected members have not been able to take oath, he added.
Yeddyurappa again blamed the Governor for the delay as he has not been able to finalise reservation roster for ULBs.
BJP State Unit President Sadananda Gowda said the party will start Janajagruthi yatra from January 22 in Belgaum and Bijapur districts.
