S Sreesanth on Monday exuded confidence of an early return to the Indian team.
The Kerala paceman had suffered a shoulder injury during the fifth one-dayer against Pakistan in Jaipur.
The injury forced him to sit out of the Test series against Pakistan and hit his chances of playing in the series against Australia.
“I have been recovering well, and hope to return to action at the earliest. Hopefully for the third Test against Australia in Perth,” Sreesanth said here at the inauguration of a coffee shop at the Bat and Ball Inn, his joint venture with Robin Uthappa.
Dr Anant Joshi, the Indian cricket board’s doctor, had advised Sreesanth to undergo surgery but the pacer, instead, opted for ayurvedic treatment under Dr Raveendran in Coimbatore.
“The treatment has been wonderful. If I had undergone surgery, I certainly would have lost at least five to six months of action. But the ayurvedic treatment and therapies have helped me to return to near full-fitness in a month. It has been remarkable,” he explained.
“I have played for BPCL in Kochi and I felt okay at that time with my bowling and only my throwing needs some more attention. I have been doing some gym work in that regard,” he added.
Detailing his next step, Sreesanth said, “I will report to Dav Whatmore at the National Cricket Academy on January 4, and will train there under him. So, I want to take it from there.”
Whatmore, NCA’s Director of Operations, is currently in Australia for Chirstmas vacation and will return to Bangalore on January 3. Sreesanth will play an exhibition match on January 5 in Bangalore, and he hoped the game would help him to get some match experience.
