Students from South India seeking entry clearance to study in the UK, but have been refused a visa and wish to appeal against the decision are invited to meet the Visa Officer from British Deputy High Commission in Chennai. They can meet the officer on January 9, 2008 at the British Council, 737 Anna Salai, Chennai.
The opportunity is only open to those who have been refused student visas by the British Deputy High Commission, Chennai, and appointments will be booked only for those who meet the eligibility criteria - which is within 28 days from the refusal date of the visa application.
The Visa Officer will review the appeal and a decision will be made within 28 working days, in terms of upholding or overturning the decision to refuse. Students who are eligible should contact the British Council, Chennai at 044 4205 0600 / 662 or email: nim.bahadur@in.britishcouncil.org by 4.00 pm on January 8. Students with appointments must bring the following: a fully-completed AIT 2 appeal form (this form is included with the refusal notice); original passport; documentary evidence that addresses the reasons for refusal and original documents to show that the course has not yet started, or that they have obtained permission to join late. This new arrangement is not open to students who have been refused and wish to make a fresh application for entry clearance. For fresh applications, these should be made through normal channels.
