Bajaj Auto Limited (BAL) - a major motorcycle maker in India—on Friday entered into a pact with its Japanese technical partner Kawasaki to distribute the Kawasaki bikes in India.
Subsequently, the two firms will explore possibilities of developing products jointly. As per the agreement, BAL will bring Kawasaki bikes and distribute through its exclusive “Probiking Stalls,” the BAL Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj told newspersons here. To start with the BAL will launch Kawasaki’s four models -- Ninja 250, sports roadster ER-6n, super sports bike Ninja ZX6R and vulcan cruiser Z1000.
“We will further expand the basket depending on the market response,” he said. Initially BAL will first launch Ninja 250 this year, Bajaj said.
The Kawasaki bikes would be brought under the completely knocked down (CKD) unit route and BAL would assemble at its Chakan unit in Maharashtra.
