The Additional Civil Judge (Junior division) today adjourned the case till Monday for the final judgment after hearing the arguments from both the sides on the case against Sri Sugunendratheertha Swamiji of Putthige math seeking his disqualification from ascending Paryaya peetha and perform Lord Krishna Pooja.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Advocate Dorairaju representing the plaintiff informed that after hearing the case, the judge has reserved his orders on case till Monday.
He said that he contended in his argument that the pontiff has violated the tradition by breaking the “Yathi dharma” of conducting ritual thrice a day during the traveling period which took one and half day by air during his tour abroad.
He said that he also contended that swamiji had also not taken “pattada devaru” (the deities in the math to which Pooja were conducted thrice a day) of Putthige math. During his tour, the seer has violated the code of conduct laid down by Sri Madhwacharya. The swamiji should be disqualified from ascending the sacred “sarvajna peetha” and from performing pooja and run the administration of the temple built by Sri Madhwacharya 800 years ago. The defendant lawyer have also agreed that the seer had conducted the foreign tour, he added.
During the argument today, Dorairaju said that there should not be separate yardstick for the Pontiff of Putthige math who had taken leading role in the campaign in relinquishing the junior seat of Pejawar math by the erstwhile junior pontiff of the math for his visit and stay in the United States of America.
The same yardstick should also be applied in the case, he said adding that he has produced the original copy of the documents to this effect before the court and also the references from “smruthis” and “puranas” and Vedic scriptures in support of his arguments.
He also informed that he prayed court to issue injunction orders restraining the Putthige Pontiff from ascending the paryaya peetha and performing the pooja to Lord Krishna inside the sanctum sanctorum.
Prassanna Kumar, Padmanabha, Sanathkumar, Sheshagiri Rao, Harish and Vedavyasa Achar took part in the arguments representing the plaintiff. Advocate General of State B V Acharya and Sripathy Acharya from defendent side had completed their argument on Thursday.
