Taxi Men Association of Udupi district urged the Government to take back its order stating that every taxies, vans and maxi cabs in the State should be fitted with speed governors.
Addressing media persons here on Thursday, the Association President Raghupathy Bhat informed that the association has decided to stage a protest on January 16 throughout the district against the attitude of the Government. No maxi cabs and vans will be plying on the road other than ambulance, milk vans and press vehicles.
The Supreme Court has ordered the heavy goods vehicles and state carriers to install the speed governor and not to the maxi cabs and vans as proposed by the Government.
