Macmillan Prefers Smaller Summit
New Delhi, Jan. 11.
British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan said today that he preferred a smaller “summit” conference of three or four powers rather than that of a large number of powers as suggested by Mr Bulganin.
Answering questions at a press conference, Mr Macmillan said he felt that a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Big Powers as suggested by the NATO meeting in December last was the right one.
Tamil Is Madras’ Official Language
Madras, Jan. 10.
By the Madras Official Language Act, 1956, Tamil has been declared as the official language of the State of Madras. With a view to facilitate the use of Tamil in official correspondence, the government have already prepared and supplied to all government offices a standard glossary of administrative terms.

CM Retains Home, Finance & Revenue
Bangalore, Jan. 11.
Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde today allocated portfolios to all the seven ministers, retaining Home, Finance and Revenue with himself, as a temporary measure.
At a press conference, Mr Hegde announced that Mr S R Bommai would be Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr Abdul Nazir Sab is the new Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj. Mr HD Deve Gowda gets Public Works and Irrigation.
