KRV men block trains in Tiptur
Tiptur, DHNS:
Hundreds of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists on Saturday blocked Hubli-Bangalore Inter City and Bangalore-Hubli passenger trains, in protest against the alleged injustice being meted out to Kannadigas in Railway recruitment.

Speaking on the occasion President of Vedike R Vijayakumar said non-Kannadigas have occupied over 70 per cent posts in Railways. He alleged that the Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is trying to help Biharis in the Group D employees selection in the South Western Railway.

A special coach was reserved for the people coming from Bihar, Vijayakumar said. He wondered why Kannadigas are keeping quiet despite the injustice. The KRV activists submitted a memorandum to the Railway Department and Centre urging reservation of posts to the candidates belonging to the people of the State when selection is being done in that particular state.

Due to the rail roko agitation the train passengers had to spend at least half-an-hour at the Tiptur railway station. A tight security was arranged by the DySP P R Mahadevaiah. Several TMC members and pro-Kannada organisation had joined hands with the KRV activists in their protest.
