Two persons were killed and five injured when a qualis collided with a stationary lorry on NH48, near the Magadipalya Gate, on Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Mallikarjunaiah (40), and Lohit (4), residents of Devanahalli in Bangalore.
The two, along with their family, were on a pilgrimage to Dharmasthala and other pilgrim centres.
They were on their way back to Bangalore when the mishap occurred - at about midnight, the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a lorry that had been parked at the side of the road, in Amrutur police station limits.
Amruturu PSI Radhakrishna immediately made arrangements to shift the injured to the government hospital.
On the way to the hospital,Mallikarjuna passed away, and his son Lohit succumbed to the injuries at the Kunigal Hospital. Narayanamma, Manjula, Raveendrakumar, Thejas and the driver have been shifted to a Bangalore hospital for treatment as they are severely injured in the accident. Amrutur police have registered a case, and investigations are being carreid out.
