Gudibande, dhns: Kannada Sahitya Parishat will felicitate two students who have got highest marks in first language Kannada in SSLC exam of last academic year. Those who studied in the schools of Chikkaballapur,Gudibande and Bagepalli taluks can send their attested marks cards and a self-addressed post-card on or before January 15, 2008, said S Shivaram, district co-ordinator, Kannada Sahitya Parishat. No groupism, says association
Chikkaballapur, dhns: Former president of government employees association and representative of animal husbandry department Dr Madhuranath Reddy has clarified that there is no groupism in the district unit of government employees association.
Candidates for 47 positions have been unanimously selected. Elections have ben held on Thursday only for three seats. However, none of the candidates have represented any group, said Mr Reddy on Saturday. Election for the president’s post will be held on January 30.
Allegations ruled out
Chikkaballapur, dhns: Former legislator M Shivananda clarified on Saturday that he has not threatened his daughter Poornima of dire consequences for getting married out of caste. A missing complaint had been registered with the police when Poornima did no turn up at home. In the meantime she appeared in a private TV channel and stated that she got married of her own accord, he said.
“I have not threatened to kill any one. I and my family members wish Poornima to be happy wherever she is,” Mr Shivananda said in press meet. His wife Kasturi and son Sandip Chakravarthy were present.
Illegal sale of edible oil
Chikkaballapur, dhns: Illegal sale of edible oil is on the rise in the State and the concerned authorities have failed to take any action, said industrialist and trader Prasanna.
He accused that every day about 2-3 lorry loads of edible oil is entering the State from Tamil Nadu and other states. Some traders have not been paying tax and selling oil in the black market. Even though the concerned officials are aware of it they are silent on it, he said.

Chintamani, dhns: The taluk Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has alleged that Lalu has tried to create job opportunities for the people of his native State in the railways in Karnataka. They demanded that the injustice meted out to Kannadigas should be set right by scrapping the earlier recruitment processes and beginning fresh recruitments.
