One commits suicide
KGF, dhns: Dejected over family problems, a person committed suicide by hanging himself at Robertsonpet police limits, on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Nagaraj (45), a resident of Ashok Nagar. For the last few days, there had been fights in his family, due to which he hanged himself from a tree at the Muneeshwara temple.
Robertsonpet Sub Inspector Ramappa have registered a case.
2 killed, 28 persons injured
Chikkaballapura, dhns: Two people died on the spot and 28 others were seriously injured in a collision between a lorry and a tempo, on National Highway 7, near Chadalupura on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Manjunath (22) of Balenahalli in Gudibande taluk, and Kamarunnisa from Chamarajpet in Chikkaballapura. Eight people are said to be seriously injured, and are admitted to a hospital in Bangalore. The rest are being treated at the government hospital in town.
The passengers had hired a tempo to travel for the final rites of one of their relatives. The lorry, which was travelling in the opposite direction, collided head-on and one of the hind wheels of the lorry ran over his face, say eyewitnesses.
Sub-inspector Gopal Naik, who immediately visited the spot, arranged for the injured to be taken to hospital, earning praise from the public. DySP Nanaiah and Circle Inspector Thippeswamy visited the spot. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
