Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has selected Shimaje Parari (S N Shetty) from Mumbai, B N Rao Bolur (Bolur Narayan Rao) and Sannakka Banglagudde for the Academy awards for the year 2007 for their contributions to Tulu literature, drama-theatre and folk art, respectively.
The names were selected at the meeting organised at the Academy on January 10. The award contains Rs 10,000 in cash and mementos. The selection was done as per the report of the selection committee headed by scholars Dr K Chinnappa Gowda, Dr Vaman Nandavar and Dr Na Damodar Shetty.
The award will be presented in association with other organisations at Mysore in February, stated a press release issued by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, the release said.
Book awards for the year 2006
‘Maime,’ a play authored by Kadri Navneeth Shetty and ‘Kattalininda’ authored by Naveen Kumar Marike have been selected for the Pustaka Prashasti for 2006. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 5,000, mementos and a certificate.
The awards will be presented at Mysore in February, the release added.
