Teachers must develop effective teaching skills and impart quality education to students, said district Public Instructions Department Deputy Director Mohammed M Basheer.
Speaking after inaugurating the district-level seminar on “Techniques of teaching Mathematics and languages” organised under the aegis of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan at District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) in Koodige near Kushalnagar on Wednesday, he said teachers must gain mastery over their subject and impart value education to students.
It becomes easier for children to learn if teaching includes activities. In this direction, teachers must use different skills of teaching according to the age of the students, Mr Basheer explained.
DIET Principal C A Rangaiah said teachers must prepare students on the basis of principles and psychology. They must be aware of the hurdles that come in the way of teaching and find appropriate solutions for them.

Later, Balele Vijayalakshmi PU College Kannada lecturer Dr J Somanna and Kushalnagar Kannada Bharati PU College Kannada lecturer Sabalam Bhojanna Reddy spoke about problems faced by primary school language instructors and their solutions.
Meanwhile, Suntikoppanadu Primary School, Kodagarahalli Head Teacher K S Siddalingaswamy and Kushalnagar Mookambika DEd Training College Principal N V Shankar spoke about problems of primary school Mathematics teachers and their solution and informed about the basic rules of teaching Mathematics. An interaction programme with resource persons followed. Lecturer B E Ramesh and Vishwanath were present.
