At an interaction programme organised by the Bangalore Reporters’ Guild here on Saturday, Legal Service Authority Executive Chairman Justice V Gopala Gowda said that the authority had decided to team up with the Women and Child Development Department, Stree Shakthi groups, Anganawadi workers and Child Development Programme Officers in the taluk level to conduct the proposed programmes.
The Authority has decided to conduct literacy programmes in around 3,073 pre-university colleges, 486 degree colleges and 9,173 high schools. Apart from Women, the Authority also proposed to conduct legal literacy programmes in over 10,535 factories, where over 9.93 lakh labourers are employed. The Authority, he said, would involve labour department inspectors in the process.
Lok adalats
The Authority has decided to set up permanent Lok Adalats in other districts as well. Proposed for 2007-08 are such Lok Adalats in Bidar, Bijapur, Davanagere, Hassan, Karwar, Kolar, Raichur, Shimoga and Tumkur,Justice Gopala Gowda added.
The Authority will set up counselling and conciliation centres in all the districts, he added.
