Fake bus pass racket
The Security and Vigilance Department of the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has, through its intensive checking drive by squads, initiated action against three persons for selling fake passes on the January 9 and 10.
The accused were found commuting with a colour xerox fake bus passes.
A press release from S K Bellatti, chief security and vigilance officer, BMTC states that while two persons have been handed over to the police for travelling on buses with fake monthly commuter passes, another person was found selling them. The BMTC will shortly deploy 68 retired police personnel to conduct intensive checks.
Public found commuting with fake passes will be handed over to the police stations.
Recipes for diabetic patients
M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital’s Department of Dietetics & Nutrition, conducted a live demonstration of diabetic friendly recipes on Saturday.
The recipes included pongal, puran poli and moong stuffed paratha, since Pongal festival is just round the corner. The food was made using artificial sweeteners. The diabetic patients of the hospital, their family members and visitors were present on the occasion. The hospital plans to conduct such demonstrations on the second Saturday of every month from 3 pm to 4 pm. Call: 22183028.
Clarification
Reacting to a news item that appeared in these columns on the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation commencing road widening work in Indiranagar, the Corporation has clarified that it was the A C P who held discussions on two occasions with the traders on CMH Road and not its officials.
