Watch out, eunuchs on the prowl!
Bangalore, G Manjusainath, dhns:

Their modus operandi was to entice youth, lure them into having illicit affairs and then rob their valuables. But their luck ran out when they fell into the police dragnet.

Ashok Nagar police on Friday arrested a eunuch Julie (36) from Sanjay Nagar for robbing two engineers from the city. Her accomplice Anju is absconding.“On the night of December 14 last year, the two engineers were heading towards Indira Nagar when two well-dressed eunuchs asked them to stop the car near a petrol bunk. When they stopped the vehicle the eunuchs lured them,” said police .

Before the boys could think of returning to their car, the eunuchs threatened that they would raise an alarm if they did not hand over their valuables, said the police. The boys were left with no other alternative than to pay whatever had been demanded.

After being robbed of their valuables, the youth approached police and lodged a complaint. They narrated the whole incident and asked police to intervene.

Police were hearing about such incidents but were waiting for someone to come and lodge a complaint.“People were ashamed of lodging complaints, so they never came forward. When these boys came to us we took a serious note of it and began investigation," said a police officer.

On Friday, police nabbed Julie, while her accomplice Anju (25) is absconding.

Police recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 70,000 from her possession.

Police are also looking for some other gangs of eunuchs allegedly involved in similar practices.

Sex change to rob

Police sources said the two eunuchs had undergone surgery in Mumbai to get their sex changed and look more attractive. They added that the duo had changed their sex mainly to rob people.

Police were bit puzzled in which category they should place the duo - but as both Julie and Anju changed their sex through surgery, they placed them in the female category.

Julie has been remanded to judicial custody, and the police are still on the lookout for Anju.
