Appi, owner of Bhavani theatre has accused the activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike of unnecessarily harassing them for the screening of Okkamagadu in Kolar.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Mr Appi said that, the Vedike members have been trying to bring threat to the peace and harmony of the people in Kolar by protesting against screening of Telugu movie.
He also said that, the Vedike has made it a means of making money by protesting the screening of telugu movie, which is one of the national languages in the country.
Some people are trying to bring a blot to the Vedike by doing such acts, he stated.
Many Telugu movies have been screened in Kolar in recent years. Even today many taluks exhibit telugu movies and the Vedike has not questioned this.
Why is that it is protesting in Kolar only? he questioned, while adding that, if at all the screening will be stopped all over Karnataka, then they too would stop screening of telugu movies in Kolar city as well as district.
If at all the Vedike holds a protest again on Monday and if law and order goes out of hand, then the Vedike itself will be held responsible for it, he said.
CMC member Madhusudan, Makkad Venkatesh, Venkatachalapathi, Balaji, Dinesh, Police Narayanaswamy and others were present at the conference.
