‘BJP will return to power,’ ‘BJP will win if united,’ and other statements of the BJP leaders are ridiculous, said former minister D B Chandregowda.
Addressing a news conference, he said that there is absolutely no meaning in the statement that BJP will return to power and questioned if ever BJP had come to power at the Centre or at the State on its own ability.
He said that he had toured the entire constituency over the last few days and one thing that was very evident was the fact that people are fed up of the unstable government that they saw in the State and they seek for a stable government now.
“People are fed up of BJP, which has only framed programmes and bagged publicity without implementing the programmes. On the other hand, several JD(S) leaders from the region are joining Congress,” he added.
BJP has been claiming credits for loan to farmers at 4 per cent interest, Bhagya Laxmi scheme, waiver of loan of the farmers, cycle for the high school children and Sandhya Suraksha Schemes.
Congress during its tenure has reduced the interest of the farmers from 14.5 per cent to 7 per cent, which means BJP has only continued Congress’s programmes.
He said that though BJP declared that it has waived off the farmers’ loans, it is yet to pay Rs 28 crores to the District Co-operative Banks.
He informed that to fortify the party in wake of the elections, a three days booth level workers’ meet will be held from January 29 onwards.
