District Watershed Department official T Ramachandrayya inaugurated the programme organised by Integrated Pest Management And Rural Development. He elaborated on the facilities available to farmers under the scheme and importance of formal schooling for farmers to inform them about scientific methods of cultivation.
Dr S Krishna of Centre for Agriculture, Bangalore, explained about the significance of Raitakshetra Patashala, which provides a forum for the farmers to interact and build a professional networking.
He also explained about the usefulness of the ‘kshetrotsava’.
Organic farming
Former Taluk Panchayat President M B Paramashivaiah spoke on the supportive aspects in the rural life to adopt organic farming.
Halenahalli Chandrasekhar, Jayamma, Shadakshari, Kodigihalli Malleshappa, Singenahalli Vijayalaxmi, Bhairapur Shivagangamma and others discussed various aspects of agriculture, farming including soil test, preparing vermi-compost.
Farmers Gangadharappa, Kumaraiah, Jayamma, Theertavati, Malleshappa were felicitated on the occasion.

District resource team comprising Dr Nailappa, Dr H L Kempegowda, Watershed official K M Rajanna, ZP member Sujata, TP member Nagamma, Halkurike GP President Gouramma and IPMARD president Nandishwara Naik, Vice-President Madivalappa, Konappa, Secretary Basaiah and people from surrounding villages took part in the programme.
