At the State Bank of Mysore Sira branch, Rs 20 stamp papers are not available since more than ten days. Hence, candidates are forced to buy stamp papers of Rs 50 denomination. Meaning, they are unnecessarily losing Rs 30 out of their pocket.
Required amount
In the last one week, more than two thousand candidates have bought Rs 50 stamp papers whereas the requirement was only for Rs 20 stamp papers, admits the bank manager. A notice board has been put up in the branch, saying, “No stock of Rs 20 stamp papers. Please cooperate.”
Paying more
It is mandatory to get affidavit from the Notary in a Rs 20 stamp paper in order to acquire income and caste certificates. However, due to the scarcity of Rs 20 stamp papers, candidates are paying Rs 30 extra to the government exchequer, as January 18, the last date for applying for FDA and SDA exams is fast approaching. This has been an added burden on the candidates.
The problem is also faced in Chikkanayakanahalli, Tiptur, Pavagada and Madhuguri taluks.
“There is no stock of Rs 20 stamp papers. An indent has been sent to the main branch. We may get the stamp papers by Friday,” said branch manager Mathew.
