Donors must contribute to the all round development of government schools and thus be a part of the progress of education, said former minister B A Jeevijaya.
Speaking after inaugurating a classroom constructed in Suntikoppa Government Pre-University College with an outlay of Rs 2.4 lakh under the Malenadu Abhivriddhi Yojane, he said instead of expecting the government to undertake all development works, those who can afford to contribute must extend a helping hand for this.
In rural areas, students must chalk out a bright future for themselves through availing high standard of education.
In the present year, government has constructed 365 new primary schools in the State and in the taluk as well as in Nellihudikeri, government PU college, 7th Hoskote Primary School and Girl’s High School in Kushalnagar have been opened.

Everyone must give a little thought to the school they have received education, he advised, adding that a centenary building is being constructed in Somawarpete Government Model Primary School with an expenditure of Rs 1.25 crore. In this direction, Rs 52 lakh has already been collected, he informed.
Instead of distributing bicycles to children, the amount could have been utilised by the government to ensure basic amenities in rural schools.
