Members of Pashchima ghatta Prakrithi Vikopa Peeditha Horata Samithi, Raitha Sangha, all party leaders and Karnataka Rakshana Vedike picketed the taluk office urging the authorities to pay the compensation for residents of 31 villages.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA M P Kumaraswamy called upon the Governor to release the compensation.
Samithi Convenor B K Lakshman said “villagers have submitted several memorandum so far. But all in vain.” He said Mudigere bundh will be observed on January 18. The protestors were arrested by the police on the occasion. Jyothi Hemashekar, Sathi Sundaresh, Uggihalli Rudrayya, P G Manjayya were present.
