Akshaya Patra’s conclave on Feb 1

The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which runs a school meal programme, will host a national conclave titled ‘Zero to Billion’, on February 1.

About 250 eminent CEOs and leaders from diverse sectors will congregate to celebrate the foundation’s achievement in reaching out to over 8,38,000 children and discuss issues including hunger eradication and enhancing children’s education etc. The conclave will be held on February 1, 2008 at Hotel Chancery Pavilion. Mr N R Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor and Chairman, Infosys and Mr T V Mohandas Pai, Chief Financial officer, Infosys, will participate.

GAIL kickstarts social initiatives

GAIL (India) Limited, a natural gas company launched a range of Corporate Social Responsibility programmes on Monday. Dr U D Choubey, Chairman and Managing Director GAIL(India) Limited today handed over a Field Research Vehicle to Centre for Wild Life Studies (CWLS) at Bangalore. GAIL (India) Limited and CWLS have undertaken a wild life conservation project titled Save Tiger Project at Mysore for which GAIL made a contribution of Rs 15 lakh to establish a Field Research Centre in Malenad Mysore Tiger Conservation Landscape.

Dr Choubey also flagged off a mobility vehicle for differently able students of Amara Jyothi Handicap Welfare Association, Kanakapura. He unveiled a plaque for two class rooms and donated a laptop with LCD for the organization.
