All-India dog show on Jan 20
Fifty-two breeds of dogs from the rare ones like Miniature Schnauzer and Weimaraner to the more popular Dalmatians and Pomeranians will add colour and variety to the 86th and 87th All India Championship Dog Shows of the Mysore Kennel Club, scheduled for Sunday.
Commemorating the Platinum Jubilee of the Club and Golden Jubilee of Veterinary College, 460 entries will participate and compete in the show, according to president of the Club, Dr B C Ramakrishna. Simultaneously, the Third Great Dane National show will be held on the same day.
Last year, there were as many as 400 entries with 46 different breeds participating. This year Fox Hounds, German Wirehaired Pointers, Wirehaired Daschunds, Shih Tzus, Beagle will be among the main attractions of the rare breeds.
Internationally acclaimed judges like C V Sudarshan from India and Maria Rocio A De Vega and Simon Lu Sim from the Philliphines will spot the winners.
Prizes based on Karnataka heritage as the theme will be given to different classes and breeds of dogs.
The show will come alive at the football ground, behind Diary Science College, Veterinary University Campus, Hebbal. The entry fee is Rs 25 for adults and Rs 10 for children.
