Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Sangha President Koluvanda Subramani said government has agreed to sell 5.38 acre land belonging to Sangha in Hunasooru.
Sangha is facing a loss of Rs 14 crore. To make the sangha financially strong several projects have been planned. Coffee will be purchased from the members. The purchased coffee will be processed. This year, the sangha has a plan to process 600 tonne coffee.
He said Indian Oil Corporation petrol bunk has been set up at Hebbale and the business is progressing. Petrol bunk in Hunasooru is also doing well. As a result, the Sangha is also earning income.
Moreover, the sangha has decided to rent out additional godown and residential quarters.
Mr Subramani said the coffee powder manufactured by the Milk Association under the brand name of ‘Hunasooru coffee’ will be changed to ‘Madikeri Garden Fresh Coffee.’ An agency has been identified for its selling in Bangalore and other places. Last year, Rs 9,91,235 profit has been posted by the selling of coffee, he added.
