Brahmarathotsava of Nagalamadike Subrahmanyeshwara, who is popularly known as Antya Subrahmanyeshwara, was observed with pomp and gaiety.
The utsav, in which nearly 20 thousand devotees took part, was inaugurated by the chief priest Vedabrahmasri Badarinath. The priests recited hymns while the presiding deity was installed on the chariot. Assistant Commissioner Anbukumar and Tahasildar Eshwaraiah also witnessed the occasion.
The committee and many locals had arranged 50 showers for devotees who wished to take holy bath, as part of their celebrations.
As the bus stop was shifted to a different place, it was convenient for the visitors and the streets were not so crowded.
Additional police force was deployed to maintain law and order. However, they were unable to control the devotees who had vowed to pick the used leaves after the lunch, rushed to the dining hall. A man’s leg was broken in the stampede.
However, no untoward incidents were reported during the utsav. Police officers including DySP Hanumantareddy, Circle Inspector O B Kalleshappa, and Manjunathbabu, Chief of anti-naxal squad, supervised the security set up.
