In a macabre incident, two women were burnt alive at Tavarekere police station limits on NH 4 Maranagere service road on Wednesday early morning.

It is not known whether it is a suicide or murder and the identity of both the bodies cannot be recovered as they are burnt very badly.

The police have suspected that the murderers might have burnt the two on Tuesday night itself using kerosene.

Deputy Superintendent of Police  Mohan Reddy, CPI Gajendra Prasad, PSI Sadanand visited the spot. Further investigation is on under the leadership of Superintendent of Police P Harishekharan.

Similar incident

A similar incident had occurred three months back, when a man and a woman who were sleeping in a shop were burnt alive on National Highway under the limits of Kallambella police station.

This has shocked the general public all over the district and they have asked the Superintendent of Police to carry on a  detailed investigation regarding this and arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
