The Supreme Court on Wednesday conceded to the request of the government by adjourning the Ram Setu issue for another two weeks, despite the petitioners and other advocates seeking to argue their cases.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan granted the time to file the affidavit. As soon as the matter came up for hearing, Attorney General Milon K Banerji stood up and sought adjournment to avoid further controversy. Mr Banerji also said the committee appointed by the government was re-examining the feasibility of the project. Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, said the Centre is yet to respond to the order passed by Madras High Court asking it to conduct an archeological probe.
