The first to get the marching orders is B Gopal, senior BSP state leader and former president of the State unit.
In a statement, Veersingh, Rajya Sabha member and in-charge of Karnataka affairs of the BSP, has stated that as per the directions of BSP National President Mayawati, Gopal has been suspended from the Party.
Singh said that the BSP would like to build the party the manner in which it has been established in Uttar Pradesh taking all communities into confidence for which Gopal was not ‘suitable’.
Reasons cited
The former president had failed to submit his accounts statement for the BSP convention held recently in Bangalore which had upset the leaders in the party. “For this reason as well as for his anti-party activities, Gopal has been kept under suspension”, he added.
Gopal has been the State unit president of the BSP for seven years and was replaced by Marasandra Muniyappa as president. When his reaction was sought, he said, “I don’t know why the party has taken such action against me. I have not received notice from the party.” Asked whether he would join any other party, he replied, “I will not join any party. I am a businessman and will continue with it.”
When contacted P G R Sindhia, General Secretary, BSP said, “I was on tour and I will be able to comment on the suspension only after I meet Mayawati, which is scheduled to happen on Wednesday at Delhi. We welcome the decisions taken by Madam”.
