Huawei rolls out MTNL’s network
Huawei Technologies, announced on Wednesday that it has successfully helped the telecom company MTNL deploy its MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) backbone network, thus providing the Indian users with a variety of quality carrier-class services including Internet, VoIP and IPTV. The successful deployment of the MPLS network will help MTNL transform its legacy network into highly available carrier-class IP MPLS bearer network, which will support services such as NGN, 3G, VPN etc the company said.

LIC Housing Finance   Q3 net up at Rs 106 cr
LIC Housing Finance on Wednesday reported a net profit after tax of Rs 106.02 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 76.61 crore for the same period last year, reports DHNS from Mumbai. Total income has increased from Rs 404.10 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 to Rs 551.62 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, a company release said.

HCL Tech Q2 net up marginally at Rs 267 cr
HCL Technologies on Thursday posted a marginal increase in net profit at Rs 266.95 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, compared to Rs 266.14 crore for the same quarter last year. The total income of the company rose to Rs 1,185.30 crore for the quarter against Rs 1,023.43 in the year-ago period, HCL Technologies said. The Board of the company in its meeting held declared an interim dividend of Rs 2 per share (100 per on an equity share of the face value of Rs 2). The company also informed that its Senior Corporate VP Anand Gupta will take charge as the President with immediate effect.

Ranbaxy net profit up  53 per cent in 2007
Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd reported profit after tax of Rs 790.1 crore for the year ended December 31, 2007, a 53 per cent rise over the previous year. Total sales stood at Rs 6,635.3 crore for the year ended December 31, 2007, registering a nine per cent growth over the last year, Ranbaxy said in New Delhi on Thursday. Without giving comparative figures of last year, the company said its profit after tax for the quarter ended December 31 was Rs 187.8 crore, while sales stood at Rs 1,795.1 crore. 

ETS, NIIT announce alliance in India
Educational Testing Service (ETS) on Thursday announced its strategic alliance with NIIT to offer ETS suite of products in India, reports DHNS from New Delhi. The new initiative will enhance employability and provide competitive advantage to Indian organisations in the global market place. NIIT will have exclusive rights to offer ETS’s TOEIC test (Test of English for International CommunicationT), TOEFL Practice Online (TPO), and CriterionSM Online Writing Evaluation Service, in India. This agreement will also enable both the companies to raise awareness of ETS products and services in India.

MRPL Q3 net profit zooms by 193 per cent
Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals (MRPL) on Wednesday reported a 193 per cent growth in its net profit at Rs 346.60 crore for the quarter ended December 2007, as against Rs 118.46 crore in the corresponding period last year. Total income for the quarter under review stood at Rs 8169.09 crore, up by 10 per cent as against Rs 7397.45 crore in the same period last fiscal. For nine months ended December 31, 2007 MRPL posted a 204 per cent rise in its net profits at Rs 1046.89 crore as against Rs 343.65 crore in the same period last year. Total income for the nine months period was Rs 23,421.93 cr.

ICICI Bank’s property show in Bangalore
ICICI Bank announced on Thursday that it is organising a three-day Home Utsav, a mega property show in Bangalore from January 18 to 20, 2007.  ICICI Bank is bringing together the top builders of Bangalore for this event. Properties from the city’s reputed builders will be on display at the show, which would cover a wide range of price points and localities, to suite the needs of a wide spectrum of home buyers. The exhibition will be held at Koramangala Indoor Stadium.
