Boy killed

Gubbi,dhns: Five-year old boy has died in a road mishap at M H gate here on Wednesday.

The dead has been identified as Sri Hari ( 5), LKG student, studying in Priya English medium school. The boy was returning from Banasandra with his mother after celebrating Sankranti at his mother’s home town.

The incident occurred when the tempo trax which was returning from Shabarimale pilgrimage rammed into the boy. Hence, the boy died on the spot. The case has been registered in Gubbi police station. Priya English medium school was declared holiday on account of boy’s death.

Two killed in mishap

Tumkur,dhns: Two persons have died in a collision between a bike and a lorry at Cheluru, Gubbi taluk on Wednesday. The incident occurred when the lorry rammed into a bike. The details about the dead persons are not available yet, police said. The case has been registered in Cheluru Police Station.

Two huts burnt

Sira,dhns: Two huts of Naganna family were burnt as flame appeared abruptly at Kaadu Gollarahatti, Bevinahalli.

One cow, five bags of tur have been lost in the incident. Fire fighting squad of Sira came to the spot and put off the fire. The case has been registered in Tavarekere Police Station.

Teacher suspended

Madgugiri,dhns: Teacher Kempaiah,  Government Higher Primary School, Kanivenahalli has been put under suspension as he was accused of bad behaviour and dereliction of duty, said Public Instruction Department , Madhugiri District, Deputy Director H V Venkateshappa.

School development authority corporation president, members and parents have submitted a complaint stating that the teacher has misused the school  aids by taking the amount from teachers account. Moreover, he has not given students’ scholarships.  Apart from this, he has even misbehaved with SDMC president, parents and students.

Deputy Director H V Venkateshappa said the decision has been taken following the recommendation by the enquiry committee comprised Pavagada taluk Akshara Dasoha Assistant Director Nagaraju and Education Co-ordinator Papanna.

Grass burnt

Hebbur, dhns: A bunch of grass was burnt due to electric wire while carrying it in a tractor on Wednesday.

Dasappa, a resident of Kanakupatte Hagollarahatti village  has sustained no injuries in the incident.



Members elected 

Chikkanayakanahalli, dhns: Following are the members who have been elected for state government employees’ association taluk branch :

C G Manjuraju and Ramachandraiah (Zilla Panchayat and PWD department), C R Basavaraju (Land Survey department), Narasimha Moorthy, Srinivasacharya, G Chandrashekhar and K P Krishnappa (Health department), Vasudevaraju from College division, R Nataraju from High School division, R Parashivamoorthy, Thimmabovi and S K Mallikarjunaiah from primary school division are selected.

M R Mohan has been selected as the treasurer of the association and Vasudevaraju has been unanimously elected as member of State Parishat. The election for President post will be held on January 21 in the association’s office building.

Reject dowry, says advocate

Tumkur, dhns: Today’s generation should completely reject Dowry, which has been one of the social problems the society has been facing, said advocate N R Dharanesh.

He was addressing the students at Bishop Sargent PU College recently regarding an informative programme on various topics such as Fundamental rights, Dowry and road rules.

Principal of the College Elizabeth S Thomas and lecturers were present. Sheela Dinakar welcomed, while Swapnil Joshi proposed vote of thanks.
